What is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desentization & Reprocessing,
a technique which uses bilateral stimulation to facilitate healing through reducing the intensity, or even removing the charge or hold, a traumatic event or adverse life experience has on an individual. EMDR therapy does not require talking in detail about the distressing issue. In EMDR, rather than focusing on changing the emotions, thoughts, or behaviors resulting from the distressing issue, it allows the brain to resume its natural healing process. EMDR is designed to activate this natural healing process in the brain through alternating eye movements, sounds, or taps.
